The Type 622 produces on/off switching action inresponse to liquid or gas flow rates in horizontal orvertical pipelines and ducts. A target extends intothe flowing stream and operates an output switchat the setpoint flow rate. These switches protectpumps, blowers, heat exchangers, etc. They arefactory calibrated to switch at the specifiedflowrate. An internal adjustment allows smallswitchpoint changes to be made in the field.Large changes require changing the size of the target.
Connection of the target to the output switch isdone magnetically. A heavy duty solid sealingtube separates the process fluid from the switchmechanism. Leaks and seal failures areeliminated because“O” rings, diaphragms, etc.,are not used.A pivoted target extends down into the flowingstream. The flowing fluid creates a force as itstrikes the target. At a predetermined velocity, theforce becomes great enough to cause the targetand the attractor to rotate about the pivot point. The magnet reacts to the new attractor positionand the output switch operates. The target rotatesback to its original position as the flow decreases;and the output switch then returns to its originalposition.
